“Emma” Graphics Contest

Emma Graphics Contest

Feltbeats.com is sponsoring an “Emma of Lulworth Cove” graphics contest to help promote the film! The winning artwork will be featured on the producer’s official pre-production movie web site! Also, winners will be acknowledged on Feltbeats.com and will receive a special badge for their web site.

Entries must be e-mailed to contest@feltbeats.com by November 24, 2008 to be eligible.

Categories:

MOVIE POSTER: The idea here is to create a movie poster for “Emma of Lulworth Cove.” We’re looking for: professionalism, a spooky and romantic atmosphere, and the title of the movie should be mentioned. (Example of movie poster.)

PHOTO ILLUSTRATION/MANIPULATION: This is any artwork that primarily consists of photography that has been modified digitally. May also contain graphics and design elements such as text, Photoshop brushes, etc. (Example of photo illustration with design elements.)

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION: This category is for original artwork illustrations, using any style or method you like. Color artwork preferred, but not required. (Example of original artwork.)

Winners:

Depending on the number of entries, we will choose one or more winners in each category, plus one or more “Best of Show” winners to be featured on the director’s web site.

Additional prizes may be added later. (Ideas? E-mail us!)

Rules:

  • All artwork must be must be e-mailed to contest@feltbeats.com by November 24, 2008.
  • Your work must be larger than 600px wide to qualify.
  • If the book characters are featured in your artwork, they must visually represent the actors that will play them in the movie. The purpose of this contest is to promote Tom Felton in this leading role, so if there is a guy in your entry, it should be Tom. :)
  • No copyrighted images may be used (in the artwork or as a reference) without permission. (Think DeviantArt rules here). If you do obtain permission, please submit it with your entry.
  • You may enter as many different entries as you like for as many of the different categories as you like.
  • If an entry can fit into more than one category, feel free to submit it multiple times. It may only win once, however, and we will choose the category it will win.
  • By entering your artwork into this contest, you are giving Feltbeats.com and producer Ray Stokes permission to use your art on both the Feltbeats.com web site and the official pre-production “Emma of Lulworth Cove” website. Your work may be digitally cropped, or enhanced as needed by the design of the site.
  • Entries should be rated PG-13 and below. :)
  • Judging will be done by Feltbeats.com admin Misha and producer Ray Stokes.
  • Changes may be made to the rules as necessary, so keep checking this page for updates.

Questions and Answers

We’ve gotten several great questions about our “Emma of Lulworth Cove” graphics contest and they deserve clarification. I will answer them below, and also post them on our “Emma of Lulworth Cove” graphics contest page.

Question: What do you mean we can’t use copyrighted images as reference material? What’s up with that?

Answer: Due to the fact that we will be using the winning artwork on the official pre-production site of the “Emma of Lulworth Cove” movie, we can’t be authorized to use material that has been copyrighted by another party. This includes screen shots from other movies, private photos which we do not have permission to use, or shots taken by professional photographs (photo shoots or on the red carpet). The movie companies or photographers own the copyright of these images and we wouldn’t be allowed to use them without permission.

Question: Can I ask a photographer for permission to use their work?

Answer: Of course! However, it is important to note that they need to give you permission to use the work on ANOTHER site, not your personal site. Many times they will give permission to use it on a personal site, but using it on the official “Emma” site would be another matter and needs to be explicitly stated. Also note that if you do get permission, you will need to provide that permission in written format (e-mail is fine) to us.

Question: Dude, then I’ll hardly have anything to use for reference material!

Answer: I know, huh?! No one said this was an easy contest! Here are some ideas though:

  • Tom Felton has given us permission to use his likeness for the purposes of the contest (Thanks, Tom!), so if you do get permission to use something - you don’t have to worry about Tom.
  • Additionally, Tom’s girlfriend Jade has given us permission (Thanks, Jade!) to use photos that she herself took of Tom (photos of Tom in a suit at Wembley stadium, the photo of Tom and Timber under the tree, and the “Holiday in Crete” photos which Jade took while they were on vacation).
  • Flickr.com allows you to do a search for material which has a creative commons license or a commercial use license, so you can use those photos as reference or stock material.

Question: Can I re-use artwork that I submitted in the “original artwork” or other categories for the “movie poster” category?

Answer: Sure! A movie poster can be made up of either traditional art or digital art. Also, it is fine if you create some nice artwork for the “original artwork” category and then reform it to be a movie poster.

Question: Can I use artwork that I did a few years ago, or perhaps submitted to another contest?

Answer: Sure, as long as you have authority to submit it (meaning, the other contest didn’t take ownership of the work, or forbid you for submitting it elsewhere).

Questions? E-mail us!

Feltbeats.com and “Emma”

Feltbeats.com is trying hard to promote the planned film, “Emma of Lulworth Cove.” Recently, we’ve received some e-mails from Feltfans asking for more details on the film and its current status. So, on this page we’ll talk about our “I want to see the Emma movie” campaign, as well ask keep track of latest news on the film.

A bit about the movie

Official Summary: “Emma of Lulworth Cove” is the story of a beautiful apparition from an 18th-century ship wreck who wanders present-day Lulworth Cove where she meets a young man, Robbie, and falls passionately in love with him. However, such a union meets with the wrath of Emma, who is out to destroy their marriage and have Robbie for herself.

The “I want to see the Emma movie” campaign”

The movie is still in pre-production stage, awaiting some portion of the funding. So, fans can help by generating a buzz for the film (like you all did with “The Disappeared” - thank you!) which will help spark even more investor interest.

If you are interested in seeing this movie through to production, help us push this movie to the next level! We’re asking for all Feltfans to place an “I want to see the Emma movie” button on their Facebook, MySpace, LiveJournal, forum signature, etc. and also ask your friends to click on it!

There are lots of button options - blonde hair and brown hair, big and small!

It’s a make your graphics contest. The film has not even started filming, much less putting out promo material. This graphics contest is for material for Ray Stokes’s Emma of Lulworth Cove site.
